Abilifly Support Service is a registered NDIS provider that specialises in providing in-home and community support to people with a disability, children, teenagers and young adults.

Abilifly is currently looking for Community Engagement Support Workers in the Cairns region to join our team.

Role Responsibility:

We are seeking people who are physically fit, active, energetic, enthusiastic, and professional individuals and that have a solid experience in the community and/or disability sector to join our team in Mount Isa on a full time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Officer/Manager, you will be required to support participants to reach their individual goals through meaningful and fun activities in their home and out in the community.

As a Support Worker you will:

Be respectful and communicate well with family members of those who you work with as you will be working in the participants family homes.
Be able to think on your feet and be able to adapt to different situations and participants
Support the people we care for to grow their skills basis and abilities to perform tasks to help live a meaningful and good life
Support to develop and maintain independence and safety. This may be through personal care and hygiene, health and wellbeing, meal preparation or supporting them to access the community and activities
Implement Behaviour Support Plans, where required, aimed at supporting the individual who demonstrates challenging behaviours to achieve their goals
Implement routines and structures set out by Allied Health Teams
Please note that you may be required to work morning, afternoon and active overnight shifts depending what will be required of the participant which will include some weekend and public holiday shifts too.

Some travel may be required to clients who are outside of the Cairns region.

Essential Criteria:

Physically fit and active
The ability to develop a positive relationship with the participant
Excellent communication skills
The ability to work with children with disabilities
Able to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to acquire NDIS Worker Screening Check
Ability to acquire a Working With Children's Check
Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate
First Aid Certificate is desirable
Cert III in Individual Support or Cert IV in Disability (or equivalent) is desirable but not mandatory
