The opportunity
Nambucca Valley Council is partnering with Transport for NSW to implement practical road safety initiatives as outlined in the Road Safety Plan 2026. The Plan takes a takes a holistic view of road safety, addressing the interactions between road users, road infrastructure, vehicles, and travel speeds.
As Council's Road Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in both behavioural road safety education and input into the design and construction of safer road infrastructure. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and delivery of road safety initiatives within the community and undertake a broad range of activities from conducting surveys and investigations to designing and executing road safety capital projects.
Who are we looking for?
Essential requirements include:
Tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Sciences, Education, Health Promotion, Marketing, Communications, Sciences, or related disciplines; alternatively, extensive relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to undertake research and network with agencies, community groups, and stakeholders to identify local road safety needs.
Proficiency in designing, promoting, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating community programs.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including report writing and negotiation skills
