About this opportunity

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and continuous improvement of all equipment and systems within the facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Engineer will work closely with operations and other departments to support production and ensure safe and efficient operations.

The role will need to demonstrate accountability for the efficient running of plant machinery, whilst promoting a supportive and collaborative high-performing team.

Your key responsibilities will be to

 

Lead and manage a team of site maintenance staff

Develop (in conjunction with the Reliability Engineer) and implement planned, preventive and predictive maintenance programs managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Manage critical spare parts planning and inventory

Implement a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to optimise maintenance and spare parts management 

Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and systems.

Utilize condition monitoring techniques to anticipate and prevent equipment failures.

Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and failures.

Perform repairs and replace defective components as needed.

Collaborate with other team members to resolve complex issues.

Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.

Implement upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Plan, manage and execute engineering projects to improve plant capacity and performance.

Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during installations and upgrades.

Manage maintenance contractors, holding them accountable for safety, costs, and delivering a high standard of work

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

Strong focus on GMP, HACCP, and food safety and quality compliance and requirements.

Identify, implement and manage continuous improvement opportunities by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, processes and equipment

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience in pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills and the ability work autonomously.
  • A commitment to maintaining a high standard of excellence in health and safety.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., CMMS, CAD).
