The work experience must be evidenced by a signed sea service record or logbook and employment references will be needed. Crew members must have at least one or two years of relevant work experience and hold appropriate registration and / or licensing where required. The applicant must have a recent First Aid Certificate or commit to obtaining one. The candidate must hold safety and rescue certificates compliant with the International Conventions on Standards, Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978. Depending on the conditions, crew members may be away from home for several days, sometimes a week, and there is usually only a short turnaround before heading back out to sea.
