The team you will work on specialises in delivering infrastructure projects related to Australia's external territories, including Christmas Island, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (part of the Indian Ocean Territories or IOT), Norfolk Island, and the Jervis Bay Territory on the mainland. As the Procurement Project Director, you will manage major projects and complex contracts across these territories, ensuring efficient performance management and recruitment.
Key Responsibilities
As the Procurement Project Director, you will:
Manage contractors and consultants for project management, design, procurement, and construction services related to infrastructure projects.
Oversee complex construction and consultant contracts, often working remotely.
Ensure project and service delivery aligns with asset management systems, project governance, and the capital works program.
Proactively manage program and project schedules, quality, risks, and key performance indicators.
Monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, resolving issues within tight timeframes.
Collaborate with other Commonwealth agencies, consultants, and contractors.
Take responsibility for meeting objectives and monitoring progress against milestones.
Other core duties include:
Liaising with staff and senior executives across relevant branches and divisions.
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across different territories.
Preparing and coordinating New Policy Proposals, complex procurement, and contract management.
Providing financial reporting and administrative support.
Supporting and developing junior staff.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
Strong asset, procurement, project, and contract management skills.
Adaptability and the ability to make sound judgements in diverse scenarios.
Previous experience in a similar role within a Federal Government context.
Demonstrated experience in contract and construction project management.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
