The Opportunity
Based in our Melbourne CBD office, the Legal Counsel is an integral part of our Corporate Legal Team and plays a critical part in BlueScope’s purpose: To create and inspire smart solutions in steel, to strengthen our communities for the future.
You will support the delivery of key transactions for BlueScope and provide advice to key stakeholders, both within Corporate and wider global BlueScope business, including in relation to M&A, Treasury, Joint Ventures, business partnerships, IP and commercial. This role will report to the General Counsel – Corporate.
The role
You will contribute to BlueScope’s strategic objectives by:
Supporting the delivery of strategic transactions and projects, including in M&A, Treasury, Climate Change, BlueScope Ventures and capital projects
Leading and driving standalone contracts and transactions, including in Treasury, IT Procurement and IP commercialisation, and specific workstreams within larger projects and transactions
Providing legal support and advice to key Corporate functions, including Treasury, Tax, HR, Information Services, Company Secretarial, Accounting and Reporting, Investor Relations, IP and Corporate Affairs
You will work and develop meaningful relationships with business and functional leaders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, both in Australia and across our global footprint. Utilising your proactiveness and influencing ability, you’ll work with these stakeholders to help achieve BlueScope’s objectives.

We’re seeking a 5-7 year post-qualified legal professional, with demonstrated experience in corporate and commercial transactions. You will have a proven track record in delivering legal advice and support across a wide range of commercial matters.
