3D Draftsperson

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 3D Draftsperson to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will prepare detailed design drawings and specifications and ensure that all designs meet project requirements and industry standards. This role involves close collaboration with Engineers, Managers, and various departments to support the seamless execution of projects from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development:
• Develop detailed 3D design drawings and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Assist Engineers and Project Managers in the design and development of mechanical equipment and plant.
• Create and evaluate design concepts and prototypes, to ensure compliance with project specifications
• Conduct engineering calculations to validate designs and ensure adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
Project Management:
• Manage design projects from initial concept through to production, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with other departments, such as manufacturing, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare and present project reports and updates to management.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to resolve design issues and implement improvements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members and drafters.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian and international standards, including AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015 for quality management systems.
• Participate in design reviews and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure high standards of product quality and reliability.
• Implement design modifications based on feedback and testing results.
Innovation and Improvement:
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to incorporate into design processes.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in design methodologies and processes.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new design tools and techniques.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Suitable certification or relevant experience.
• At least two years of experience in a similar environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in design and development within an engineering environment is preferred.
