UTEC are looking to hire Surveyors on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their location in Australia, the Surveyor is responsible for acquiring and processing accurate positioning data (vessel & sensors). Assisting the Party Chief to ensure that positioning data and calibrations are acquired and processed in line with UTEC procedures and to specifications given in the scope of work, and that all results are concisely documented using the relevant UTEC forms. The Surveyor will inform Party Chief of any required revisions to the current UTEC forms and procedures which may arise.

The role is based offshore and will require local and international travel to support UTEC operations, relevant and in date certification would be an advantage. Periods of onshore support will also be required.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with mobilising surface and subsurface sensors onto Vessel/ROV
• Assist with interfacing surface and subsurface sensors into online software packages
• Assist with calibration of surface and subsurface systems, including alongside calibrations
• Attend Pre-shift meetings to gain an understanding of forthcoming operations
• Liaise with Client Representatives during operations to be fully aware of work schedule
• Communicate effectively during operations to direct ROV and Vessel Crew and other disciplines over clear comms or Radio
• Operate word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Operate the online software packages used by the company
• Monitor data collection, highlighting issues immediately to Senior Surveyor or Party Chief
• Perform a basic level of data processing primarily to assess quality of logged data, allowing simple presentation to Senior Surveyor or Party Chief
• Maintain an accurate and complete online log and Logbook to report survey operations
• Produce field reports and memos as assigned / required by Senior Surveyor and Party Chief

Requirements

• College / University education in Geomatics, Surveying Science
• Relevant industry/military experience in survey related discipline
• Preference for Level 1 and level 2 surveyors
• Offshore experience as a surveyor preferred
• Technical understanding and knowledge of major survey equipment and software used in the offshore survey sector
• Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills
• Confident handling of MS Office, especially Word and Excel
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
