Employer is seeking a suitable Applicant for a Full Time Position as an Economic Development Officer
Role Includes
? Lead an Economic Development team that is focussed on sustainable investment attraction by
proactively identifying commercial opportunities and, where appropriate, connecting businesses
with those opportunities.
? Implement Council’s Economic Development Strategy and ensure effective leadership in the
key result areas of economic growth and attracting investment.
? Maximise Council’s income stream through the identification and sourcing of external funding
and investments, informing and engaging relevant stakeholders of these opportunities
? Ensure Council is aware of its obligations (under each funding agreement) regarding costs
(whole of life and capital), resource provision, acquittal and long term project management.
? Develop and deliver innovative strategic projects and economic development programs and/or
projects to increase investment and jobs within Cook Shire.
? Form strategic alliances and partnerships - in both the private and public sectors - to broaden
and strengthen the Shire’s economy.
? Pursue foreign trade and investment opportunities, by building and maintaining professional
strategic networks and relationship building to broaden the Shire’s economic base.
? Provide strategic advice on matters relating to economic development, job creation, industry
growth and development.
? Create awareness of the Shire as an attractive investment destination by developing innovative
strategies and targeted marketing collateral.
Build and maintain appropriate networks within Council and with various government and
service agencies, which allow Council to become aware of investment and funding opportunities
in a timely manner.
