Overview: My client is a third generation family owned and operated Australian Company specializing in wharf cartage from the Melbourne waterfront and local delivery of general freight to metropolitan Melbourne. The Transport Supervisor (AM) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating transportation operations during the morning shift. This position requires a dynamic and organized individual with excellent communication, leadership, and problem- solving skills. The Transport Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods, managing a team of drivers, and collaborating with other departments to meet delivery and transportation goals. In this role you will perform those duties outlined that the company may reasonably require from you, as well as those specifically set out by your Manager. Key Responsibilities: Transport Operations Management: * Supervise the AM operations of the Transport department and Allocators, ensuring efficient booking and allocation of wharf slots and deliveries. * Monitor driver performance, including employed and subcontractor drivers, maintaining standards and providing support and guidance as required. * Engage in ongoing communication with the transport team, drivers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient transport planning and allocation. * Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards, including National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and WorkSafe regulations. Business Improvement: * Collaborate with management and other stakeholders to develop and implementstrategies for improving operational efficiency, with a focus on maximizing profitabilityand improving customer service. * Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, implementing changes where appropriate. Resource and Compliance Management: * Manage the performance and professional development of the transport staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and implementing performance plans as necessary. * Manage the relationship with subcontractor drivers, ensuring their compliance with company policies and industry standards. * Oversee compliance and regulatory activities, ensuring that transport operations meet all relevant legal requirements and internal policies. * Monitor and manage risks within transport operations to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Safety Compliance: * Enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Qualifications: * Certification or diploma in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a relatedfield. (Preferred) Skills and Experience: * Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within transportation. * Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 1. Operational Efficiency: Ensure optimal efficiency in transport operations through effective management and utilisation of resources. 2. Cost Efficiency: Achieve cost savings and improved profitability through effective management and process improvements. 3. Business Improvement: Identify and implement strategies and changes that lead to continuous improvement in the business operations. 4. Communication: Maintain effective communication with the transport team, drivers, and other stakeholders by facilitating weekly meetings and toolbox talks. 5. Daily Reporting: Provide daily reporting on shifts performance and following days allocations.
