The Mental Health Clinician delivers quality, recovery-based care at an advanced level to people living in the community who have been diagnosed as having serious mental health conditions. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, provides discipline specific case management to consumers as well as support for carers and families. The Mental Health Clinician liaises with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders in an advocacy capacity for their consumers (General Practice, Non-Government Organisations, internal CQHHS stakeholders).

What's on offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $128,706 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $42.40 - $56.89 p.h.
12.75% employer superannuation contribution
17.5% leave loading

What you'll do:
• Deliver contemporary level profession specific clinical services assessment, treatment and evaluation, within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards and applying clinical protocols including documentation.
• Within a multidisciplinary framework undertake routine tasks, ensuring the implementation in individual
• assessments, case management, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, multidisciplinary consultation, liaison with referring agents, discharge planning and evaluation of care using appropriate outcome and data management systems.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning, problem solving skills and clinical judgement in the unit.
• Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within team and by engaging in professional development activities.

What we're looking for:
• Mandatory qualification/s: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and / or registration with the appropriate registration authority, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of duty.
• Upcoming graduates awaiting conferral of qualifications and registration will be considered for this role.
• Previous experience working within the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs environment.
• Psychology: The successful applicant must possess a four-year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an accredited tertiary institution and full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate.
• Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: Previous experience working within the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs environment.
• Disclosure of Serious Disciplinary History: Under the Public Sector Act 2022, applicants are required to disclose any previous serious disciplinary action taken against them.
• Proof of qualification: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and / or registration with the appropriate registration authority, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of duty.
• Proof of identity documents: Candidates must provide certified copies of requested proof of identify documents for the purposes of General Criminal History and National Police Certificate checks.
• Licence to operate vehicle: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
• Travel: Travel throughout the health service may be required as part of this position.
• Vaccine Preventable Diseases: It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment
Health Employment Directive No. 01/16:
o Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
o Varicella (chicken pox)
o Pertussis (whooping cough)
o Hepatitis B
o All new employees who will be working in clinical areas must be assessed for their risk of tuberculosis and screening undertaken if required.
Further vaccinations may be required due to risks for a role; examples include:
o Hepatitis A – Workers in regular contact with untreated sewerage
o Q Fever – Research or Laboratory staff regularly handling specimens
o Influenza

How we'll assess you:
• Competent level of knowledge and skill to undertake routine clinical practice with a basic understanding of recovery focussed Mental Health care.
• An ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team utilising comprehensive communication skills to establish effective partnerships and provide consultation to the team as well as other government and non-government services providers.
• An ability to deliver routine older persons mental health clinical services utilising time management and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to contribute to the professional development of self and others through education, professional networking and application of evidence-based practice.
