Alexander J Cook Aust Pty Ltd is now looking for a talented Cabinet Maker to join their team.
The right candidate will be responsible for:
Accurately measuring and marking wood before cutting to ensure precise dimensions;
Assembling pieces using techniques such as dovetailing, doweling, mortise and tenon, or biscuit joinery for strong and durable joints;
Preparing the surfaces by sanding and smoothing for a flawless finish;
Installing cabinets and ensuring they fit perfectly in the designated space, often requiring precise adjustments;
Performing repairs on existing cabinets, such as replacing broken parts, refinishing surfaces, and fixing hardware;
Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.;
Keeping the workshop organized and ensuring that all materials and tools are properly stored;
Adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workshop;
Choosing appropriate wood, veneers, and other materials based on the project requirements and client preferences;
Read and interpret blueprints to understand specifications;
About you:
At least 2 years of experience as a Cabinet Maker;
Keen eye for detail to ensure precise measurements and high-quality finishes;
Ability to visualise and create aesthetically pleasing designs that match the intended style and setting;
Skilful hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for precise cutting, shaping, and assembly;
Ability to work effectively with other craftsmen, designers, and installers;
Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in various positions;
