Job description:
-Following blueprints to measure and mark surfaces to be tiled.
-Preparing and cleaning surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesives, and filling holes or cracks.
-Applying the waterproofing treatment to the surfaces required for tiling.
-Determining the best layout of tiles to create desired patterns.
-Cutting tiles to fit around obstacles and into irregular spaces and corners using hand and power tools.
-Filling gaps between tiles with grout and removing any excess.
-Adhere to project timelines to ensure the efficient completion of all tiling projects.
-Positioning tiles and applying mortar, pressing or tapping the tile to affix it to the base.
-Mixing, applying, and spreading plaster, concrete, mortar, cement or other adhesives to form a bed for the tiles.
-Cleaning and polishing the tiles. Applying sealants as required.
-Operate various tools such as tile cutters, wet saws, or angle grinders to cut tiles to the required size and shape.
-Maintain cleanliness of work area. Ensure tiled surfaces are clean and ready for use.
-Follow the safety regulations and protocols to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
Qualifications/Attributes:
-Must hold a relevant Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or 3 years experience in lieu of qualification.
-Must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
-Proficient knowledge of power tools in relation to tiling.
-Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of manual labour.
-Understanding of safety procedures and willingness to follow them diligently.
-Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $ 80,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
