The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Hot Coil Processing Despatch (HCPD) team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Mechanical Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The HCPD Operations is one of the key assets in the Hot Mills business that manufactures and despatches a range of coil products including Hot Rolled Coil, TRU-SPEC® Steel, EMBAR™ Steel and Hot Rolled Slit Strip largely into the domestic market.
This exciting and well-rounded opportunity that offers a combination of detailed design, reliability engineering, and project engineering welcomes both junior and experienced Mechanical Engineers who hold a design background within a heavy industrial environment.
What will you do?
Being key to this role, you will:
- provide mechanical design solutions with manufacturing leading practices to maximise uptime performance to maintain or improve plant condition
- provide technical engineering advice regarding suitable solutions for equipment remediation and improvements
- help develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and minimise maintenance costs. Conduct failure mode and effect analysis (RCA) to identify potential failure modes
- prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects
- monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
- deliver engineering solutions and services to agreed schedules.
- provide quality, cost effective engineering solutions that meet process functional requirements and operating plant life.
- work collaboratively with and provide technical advice to other engineers
More about you
Supported by a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree, you will have experience in applying your engineering knowledge within a heavy industrial environment.
Ideally, you will bring:
- proven knowledge and a track record of mechanical engineering design, including the completion and checking of detailed calculations;
- a general knowledge of Inventor and AUTOCAD as well as other engineering analysis packages;
- good working knowledge of drafting processes;
- other qualifications and experience within project engineering is highly regarded
- a strong safety focus and the ability to work collaboratively with a team and multiple customers.
