Tropical Reef Shipyard, a well-established Cairns Shipyard, operating in ship repair and maintenance services and have the largest slipway capacity north of Brisbane. We service vessels from the local South Pacific, Asia, UK, USA maritime sectors. We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator.

This position will be responsible for managing the operational material needs of our projects and working closely with project managers ensuring the timely delivery and sourcing of stock items, parts, tools and equipment, manufacturing materials and capital items. This position is the link between the efficient stock control of our internal store, suppliers, Project Manager & trades. It includes an administrative component so a practical working knowledge of Excel, plus the ability to learn new systems is essential.

Applicants ideally will have a marine/manufacturing industry or trade background, a working knowledge of relevant local Suppliers & Contractors & established working relationships within the Cairns region.

About you:

*You will have min. three (3) years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, and inventory management in a manufacturing environment.
*Experienced in negotiating with suppliers on pricing, terms, quality, availability, and delivery requirements.
*Management of purchase orders – from requisition to receipt of goods according to the requirements of foreman and project managers. *Entering of invoice upon receipt of goods & the management of outstanding of outstanding / aged purchase orders.
*Maintain sufficient stock levels to ensure minimal operational down time.
*Stock take experience.
*Proficient in Microsoft office package
*Experience with SAP or a similar purchasing system is highly regarded.
*Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
*Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a “can do” attitude.
*Highly organized and efficient.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers & contractors, ensuring a win-win approach to collaboration / negotiation.
