Diesel Mechanic

Salary: $70k - $90k per year
Central West Freight Pty Ltd is a regional NSW based logistics company with contracts for major clients, such as, Australia Post, NewsCorp and Visy Australia. We have been in operation for several years and have depots based in Orange, NSW and Broken Hill, NSW. We service a distance and area from Sydney to Broken Hill, Bourke, Lightning Ridge, Cobar, Orange and most towns in between daily with a fleet of Prime Movers, semi-trailers, Rigid Trucks and Vans.
We need the position of Diesel Mechanic to be filled as a matter of priority.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Fault Detection and Diagnosis:
• Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and related components.
2 Dismantling and Inspection:
• Efficiently dismantle engine assemblies, transmissions, and other parts for a thorough inspection, checking for wear and defects.
3 Repairs and Replacements:
• Perform precision repairs and replacements of worn or defective parts, emphasising compliance with industry standards.
• Selecting suitable tools and equipment
• Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
4 Scheduled Maintenance:
• Conduct scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups.
5 Compliance with Regulations:
• Strictly adhere to pollution regulations during maintenance services, ensuring environmental compliance.
6 Testing and Adjustment:
• Conduct comprehensive testing and adjustment of mechanical parts to guarantee optimal performance.
7 Vehicle Inspection:
• Thoroughly inspect vehicles to ensure roadworthiness, contributing to overall safety and performance.
8 Breakdown Service Response:
• Respond promptly to vehicle breakdown service calls, applying effective solutions to minimise downtime.
9 Record Keeping:
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all service and repair activities to ensure proper documentation.
10 Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure that all repairs and maintenance adhere to safety regulations and industry standards, emphasising a commitment to safety.
Qualifications: Suitable certification or relevant experience.
Experience: At least two years of experience in a similar environment.
Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
• Good IT and diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements
