Mental Health Clinician Permanent part-time position (0.6 FTE Wednesday and Fridays with flexible third day) Cabrini Outreach - Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Hub, Northcote Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free each year, plus meal & entertainment card About Cabrini Outreach Cabrini Outreach is the charitable arm of Cabrini. Our mandate is to seek social justice, alleviate social inequality and enable better healthcare for people seeking asylum and people experiencing disadvantage within Australia and overseas. The Cabrini Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Hub focuses on providing free compassionate primary care and mental health care to people seeking asylum who are Medicare-ineligible or who have no income. Our approach to care considers the psychosocial determinants of health, is recovery-oriented and grounded in trauma-informed practices, allowing us to holistically understand and address the unique needs of each person and family. The Role The Mental Health Clinician is a key member of the Specialist Mental Health Service (that includes psychiatrists, psychiatry registrar, psychologist, mental health nurse, social worker, and occupational therapist) at the Cabrini Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Hub providing clinical care and care coordination to people seeking asylum in Melbourne's northern and western suburbs. The role involves mental health triage/intake and assessment, developing treatment and management plans, counselling and therapeutic intervention, report writing, care coordination and referral to other services. The service is delivered primarily onsite with some limited outreach and works closely alongside the primary health care team (GPs and refugee health nurses). This role is part-time at 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) working Wednesdays and Fridays with a flexible third day. Professional Qualifications

Must be a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and Post Graduate Diploma studies in Psychiatric/mental health nursing or equivalent - nurses must have completed either a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or a specialist post-basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse; or
Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Applied Science (Social Work) or a Master of Social Work; and current registration (as appropriate) or eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW); or
Approved qualification in Occupational Therapy and registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or
Registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
Post-entry/post-graduate qualification in mental health (preferable).

Experience and knowledge

Minimum of 3 years post registration and experience in mental health.
Demonstrated capacity to perform community-based mental health assessments of clients with trauma in different phases of mental illness/psychiatric disorder including comprehensive risk assessments and safety and wellness plans.
Experience with therapeutic intervention(s) and knowledge of related theories such as; EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, psychodynamic therapy (including attachment theory), mindfulness, narrative therapy, internal family systems, and polyvagal theory.
Significant clinical experience working in a community setting.
Previous experience working with asylum seekers and refugees is highly desirable.
