About the Company
Broadacre Bacon Farming Company Pty Ltd is a family-owned business situated
in the Murray lands region of South Australia. The Gommers family has been
involved in the pork industry since 1943, and Broadacre Bacon Farming is
currently owned and operated by Desmond and Judith Gommers. We operate
an intensive piggery, farrow to finish, and are looking to recruit to continue to
operate sustainably and meet increasing market demands for pork production.
Position Description
We are seeking a dedicated Piggery Attendant Level 6 (Piggery) to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Feeding and watering of pigs
Preparation of feed rations
Moving and weighing pigs
Supervision and participation in daily inspection of pigs
Euthanize sick or injured stock in a humane manner
Administer vaccinations and medications when required
Conduct postmortem examinations of deceased stock and report findings
Collect boar semen at an insemination laboratory
Keep and maintain farm records
Clean accommodation/housing and equipment
Oversee farm quality assurance activities and procedures
Participate in company/industry training sessions as required
Report against farm/production KPI's and performance
Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
Supervise junior stockpersons if required
About You
To be successful in obtaining this role, you will have:
Minimum AQF Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) or equivalent qualification AND
at least 3 years recent & relevant experience in a medium to large size commercial piggery; or
AQF Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) AND at least 18 months relevant work experience, or
at least 5 years of recent & relevant work experience
Salary
If successful, you will be paid a salary of $69,000 per annum.
