Salary: $70,500 + 11% Superannuation

Our client, Salaam Namaste’s Dosa Hut Harris Park Pty Ltd. operating a restaurant in Harris Park, NSW is looking to fill full-time positions for qualified and skilled Cook. This company takes pride in their ability to deliver quality food and a superior service every time. The restaurant is a highly regarded venue for both its food and welcoming hospitality in a vibrant atmosphere with a typical Indian sense of family.

The employer is looking for experienced and motivated persons who are qualified as a Cook with specialization in Indian Cuisine and are capable of serving a high volume of customers. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have relevant work experience and trade qualifications, you must have a genuine interest in the hospitality industry. The successful applicant must comply with all WHS, Food Safety and HACCP requirements.

Requirements:
Certificate II or III in commercial Cookery with at least 2 years’ experience

In this role your main responsibilities include:
• Prepare a wide range of meals from the menu with a focus on Indian cuisine
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use
• Contribute to improving the menu list, kitchen facility, and business of the restaurant
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklist
• Prepare meat and non-vegetarian dishes and salads
• Prepare Indian dishes
• Undertake portion control practices, arrange, and garnish food according to the creative ethos of the kitchen
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities
• Provide input in the creation of seasonal menus and new recipes
• Season and cook food according to recipes or your own experience and knowledge
• Help with stock management including, ordering, rotation, and wastage control
• Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry and be career focused. Other key skills and experience will include:
• skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to recipes
• understanding of food safety and OHS requirements
• in depth knowledge of Indian Cuisine
• be able to work under pressure in a busy kitchen
• be a motivated individual who has a passion for cooking

You must be a quick learner who is also reliable, creative, organised, hard-working and well-mannered. You must be able to multi-task, when required as the restaurant gets busier at times.
