Pact Group’s Contract Manufacturing Division manufactures across several operational sites and supplies a wide range of homecare and Personal-Care categories to all the major retailers and global FMCG brand owners.
About this opportunity
In this contract role, you will manage development projects and support the implementation of new products for the contract manufacturing division, across all Personal Care categories. From initial concept through to full scale production by initiating innovation, formulating new products, producing lab scale batches and supporting the new product development team.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Project manage all projects to completion within budget and agreed timelines
- Manage the formulation and development of new innovative personal care products and improve formulae and processes of existing products to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiencies.
- Complete manufacture of laboratory scale batches for formulation development, customer sampling and stability testing.
- Oversee the implementation and progress of stability related testing of all new products for validating shelf life.
- Provide support to manufacturing NPD, technical/laboratory sales and marketing personnel as required.
- Liaise with new product development and marketing personnel, raw material suppliers and customers as required, facilitating the formulation and development process.
- Oversee the sourcing of raw materials both internally and externally for use in the formulation and development of new products and identifying alternate equivalent sources of supply when required.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Assisting site in the investigation of out of specification results and customer complaints.
- Develop tools and processes to support improvement of product development efficiency.
- In conjunction with relevant departments ensure compliance of new and adapted products to market regulations and any relevant quality and safety requirements.
- Contribute to the achievements of the department and company’s quality objectives.
- Support the Technical Lead chemist and co-operate with laboratory team members to achieve efficient output.
- Complete any other required tasks/assignments as directed.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Experience in the personal care manufacturing industry
- Tertiary qualifications in a Scientific/Engineering field [e.g. Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Chemical Engineering or equivalent]
- Ability to develop a sound understanding of technical, IP and regulatory issues relating to product development in personal care.
- Ability to investigate and fully scope new products and make sound recommendations for execution.
- Ability to trouble-shoot and implement an investigative approach to a wide variety of technical, timeline-related challenges as required.
- Knowledge of Aust/NZ regulatory requirements for personal care products
