Kingfield Galvanizing is currently recruiting for multiple Galvanizing Process workers/Electroplaters to join their manufacturing department Somerton Vic 3062.
Main Responsibilities:
Coat steel components with a protective layer of metal for aesthetic, protection and conductivity purposes. Forge metal by heating and hammering it into shape. Repair, coat, and polished already-forged metal parts and artefacts. Controls plating processes and maintain solutions used to coat metal articles and other parts with non-ferrous metals. Develop mould patterns and form sand moulds and cores to assist in the producing metal castings.
Key Duties:
- Review work orders and note specifications about plating.
- Select metal stock for work orders
- Carry out pre-electroplating process by washing steel objects and components in cleansing tanks and applying electrolytic and silver solution
- Inspect and assess quality of steel components for plating defects
- Characterise products in terms of size, quantity, distance and cost
- Fastens steel workpieces to devices including hooks, racks and cathode bars for hot galvanizing dip
- Load small steel components into baskets or barrels for galvanizing dip
- Carries workpieces between conveyors to move workpieces through electroplating processes
- Set temperature dials of forges and furnaces to prescribed level to heat metal
- Monitor machinery and equipment in electroplating process regulating cycles
- Use oven, centrifugal drier or sawdust-filled container to dry, tamper and harden plated steel components
- Use hand tools and machine presses to hammer, punch and cut metal
- Form mould patterns by cutting, trimming, shaping and smoothing stock
- Applying refractory paint and positioning cores in moulds
- Finishing metal and articles by polishing and buffing and applying shellac, lacquer, paint and other finishes
- Drain solutions from tanks and cleans
- Use hammer, compressed air vibrator to remove build-up of plating metal from racks
- Pack finished products in cartons for shipment and delivery
- Maintain records to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Adhere with OH& S Safety and Work safe regulations and policies
Salary range is $60,000 -$75,000 commensurate with experience
