About the role:
As a motor mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and safety. Utilize a wide range of tools and equipment, follow manufacturer guidelines, communicate effectively with customers, and contribute to a team environment. Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000 plus Superannuation
Required skills
Main Responsibilities:
Carry out routine servicing of vehicles.
Carry out minor services such as changing engine oil, changing oil filters, replacing air filters, and carrying out full safety checks.
Carry out major services such as changing spark plugs, changing drive belts, servicing and repairing transmission, and differentials.
Service and adjust various components including greasing and oiling. Check for operation of all electric components e.g. - all lights, wipers, signs, horns, fuses etc.
Check parts concerning the workshop manual as necessary.
Check and bleed the brake system. Replace brake pads, discs, callipers, brake lines etc.
Repairs and service fuel system.
Inspect and replace suspension components e.g., shockers, bushes, springs etc. Rotate the tyres and check the condition of the tyres.
Battery testing, replacement and changing if needed.
Check electronic devices with the use of multi-meter and electronic scans too.
Perform Diagnosis and rectify electronic and mechanical problems.
Ensure that all repair orders are in line with guidelines.
Ensure that repair orders, with supporting documentation for warranty compliance are completed before vehicle sign-off.
Fitting and balancing wheels for customers and commercial vehicles.Wheel alignments/post-alignment checks and road testing.
To be considered for this role, your key skills must include:
- A deep understanding of automotive systems, engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components.
- Identify and diagnose problems in vehicles accurately using diagnostic tools.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous in your work is critical to ensure that repairs are done correctly and safely.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Strong communication skills.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Prioritizing safety protocols and practices.
- Familiarity with computerised diagnostic equipment and software.
- Managing work orders, parts inventory, and keeping a clean and organised workspace.
Relevant qualifications: (Certificate III in Automotive) with at least 3 years of professional working experience in a similar environment.
