Location: Ringwood/Ferntree Gully

The Senior Dentist plays a crucial role in delivering safe, ethical, and high-quality dental services to the community. This position involves providing accurate diagnosis and client-centred treatment planning, as well as offering oral health promotion and education. The Senior Dentist is responsible for ensuring efficient time management to enhance patient throughput.

Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate client records, adhering to clinical record-keeping guidelines, and referring clients to specialist care when necessary. The Senior Dentist also contributes to the maintenance of a positive team dynamic within the oral health team, attends relevant meetings, and participates in ongoing training and development to stay updated with professional knowledge and skills.

The successful candidate will have AHPRA registration, a Radiation License, and a current state-based driver’s license. They must also meet the current Professional Development requirements as per APHRA and provide serological immunity or vaccination history. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential, along with experience in a range of dental practices and procedures, including public dental services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality dental services, including accurate diagnosis and client-centered treatment planning.
  • Provide oral health promotion and education to clients and/or carers regarding dental health preventive measures in a clinical setting.
  • Enhance patient throughput by ensuring efficient patient scheduling and demonstrating effective time management.
  • Ensure accurate recording of client data in Titanium and reporting in Riskman.
  • Maintain high-quality client records as per AHPRA and DHSV clinical record-keeping guidelines; refer clients to appropriate specialist care as required.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality regarding client records and information.
  • Promote healthy interpersonal relationships within the oral health team consistent with EACH's values.
  • Attend and contribute as appropriate at clinical meetings, peer reviews, oral health, and site meetings.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in ongoing training and development to maintain professional knowledge and skills.
  • Audit Policies and Procedures annually, identify gaps, and address them in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Meet service objectives, standards, and targets; ensure Quality Assurance in relation to direct patient care; continuously improve services provided.
  • Perform all duties, work practices, and procedures in a manner that ensures personal health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
  • Adhere fully to EACH infection control policy, procedures, and associated guidelines.
  • Responsible for safe management of medications.
  • Demonstrate skills and experience in leading a diverse team.
  • Sound knowledge of quality improvement frameworks, WH&S requirements, accreditation processes, clinical governance, and risk management.
