This position description is general for all Principal House Officers (PHO's) in the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. Specific duties will vary dependent upon the clinical specialty and some will be negotiated with the relevant consultant, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the individual. Each position is supervised by senior medical staff, although a reasonable degree of autonomy is expected. All PHO's should provide leadership to junior residents working in the same clinical unit.
