A Logistics Operator controls shipments from end to end for air/sea and import/export procedures. Duties include associated administrative tasks and reporting. A Level 3 Operator is expected to be able to perform specialised and non-routine tasks under general guidance, and be capable of exercising initiative and judgement in carrying out their duties. The role may include training less experienced operators by means of personal instruction and demonstration.
Coordinate all aspects of international and domestic freight shipments, including: making bookings, arranging cartage, liaising with vendors to ensure completion of services
Track shipments, including updating system with milestones and confirming POD
Obtain, check, prepare and/or store documentation to meet customs and quarantine requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with Australian and overseas countries' regulations
Complete client requirements in accordance with the client's specific Standard Operating Procedure
Liaise with clients, vendors, overseas offices and internal departments
Invoice clients in accordance with established timeframes. Comply with invoicing procedures, both for Crane and the client, to ensure timely payment of invoices
Process vendor invoices in accordance with established procedures
Perform administrative tasks such as filing and archiving, including both paper and electronic documents
Provide quotations for allocated existing clients
What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role you will need, as a minimum, the below:
At least 5 years Freight Forwarding experience.
Experience with (e.g. EDI/ICS/Excel) preferred.
Experience with all Import/Export Air/Ocean is an advantage.
Oil and gas/project vertical experience in freight forwarding is an advantage.
Proficient (or ability to become proficient) with Crane Worldwide systems (PO Management, Kewill, C-View, etc)
