It's a well-established exceeding rated early learning centre, which has been in operation for over 50 years, and they're currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Director & Educational Leader to focus on the Pedagogical leadership of the service - ensuring quality care and education programs, with a child-first approach. It's an excellent opportunity to join an esteemed feature of the community - they have a progressive child-led approach to early education and have strong ties to the local indigenous community. You'd be joining a solid organisation, achieving great results and growing further - currently spanning 2 sites, with a 3rd coming on board soon. This opportunity also offers an excellent working environment and champions staff wellbeing - with working hours from 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday, and operating on the NSW school terms only. Key Responsibilities:
Provide Pedagogical leadership to ensure the provision of quality care and education programs for children, and direction, support and continuous learning for staff.
Responsible for the overall management of the centre alongside the Business Manager.
Demonstrate and share knowledge of child development and effective approaches to facilitation of children's care and education programs.
Ensure a vibrant, interesting, varied and appropriate children's program is developed and implemented to meet the ongoing needs of the children (including those with additional needs) in line with Early Years Learning Framework
Maintain a safe environment for children, families, team members and all visitors.
Build respectful and reciprocal relationships with children and families - ensuring the families of the preschool are encouraged to contribute to the quality and success of the service.
Ensure the philosophy, policies and procedures of the service are upheld, implemented and reviewed regularly to meet relevant requirements.
Ensure the service is led through the Assessment and Rating cycle.
Lead a team of 8 early childhood educators (direct reports) within a total team of 35 incl. casuals.
Skills & Experience:
University qualification/s in Early Childhood Education
Previous experience as a centre director within an early childhood environment
People management/team leadership experience
An excellent understanding of all current regulations, standards and legislation associated with operating a preschool and providing preschool education
An ability to build strong relationships with families, children and the wider community
A current First Aid Certificate which includes CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management
Working with Children check clearance
Demonstrated experience in communication and conflict resolution
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and team building capability in an early childhood environment
Enthusiastic work ethic
Willingness to re-locate to Port Macquarie
