The Role:
Polish Club Ashfield is looking for a Cook who can oversee the restaurant's kitchen by effectively managing other kitchen and food preparation team members whilst deciding what dishes to serve and adjusting orders to meet guests' requests.
All work will be conducted in a fully functioning, very clean and organised kitchen. Applicants must have the ability to work well under pressure and time constraints, with knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients, communication skills, and the ability to accept customer feedback to improve future experiences. Coordinate and plan menus with Chefs and other kitchen staff.
Tasks Include
- Set up workstations with required ingredients and cooking equipment;
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations;
- Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients;
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions;
- Regulating temperatures of ovens and other cooking equipment;
- Seasoning, preparing and cooking food;
- Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities;
- Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment;
- Maintaining food safety and hygiene at all times;
Qualifications and Skills
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- Relevant qualifications required however, 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualifications.
- Have at least 3 years of experience as a cook;
- Planning menu and creating new dishes;
- Ensure quality products are prepared and presented;
- Manage kitchen including training staff when needed;
- Have experience in upholding the proper health and safety requirements in the kitchen;
