The Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria is the largest Greek language institution in Australia, with over 1,000 students enrolled in its various programs. The students are mainly 3rd / 4th generation children of Greek background.

We are seeking to hire an experienced Modern Greek Language and Culture Teacher to work for our organisation in a full-time capacity. The successful candidate will need to have at least two years of experience in the education sector as well as a relevant qualification. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated, resourceful and have exceptional time management skills and the ability to multitask.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position include the following:

· Develop assessment criteria and prepare students for examinations and assessments

· Conduct educational research, develop course curricula and associated teaching materials for the promotion of Modern Greek and Greek for beginners’ courses

· Assist to formulate a sound education policy for the GOCMV which reflects the needs of the Greek community and the broader community in Melbourne

· Document subjects and courses developed and evaluate new courses

· Promote courses to all interested parties and entities

· Deliver teaching programs and provide advice and coordinate educational programs associated with the teaching of Modern Greek and Greek for beginners

· Educate and train students and nurture their linguistic talents

· Apply knowledge of learning processes and school structures to develop operational and training programs for Modern Greek

· Plan and prepare lessons at various levels for groups and individuals

· Maintain a knowledge of developments in the field by attending professional development seminars

· Organise for exhibitions or performances of students' work

A salary of $70,000 is available to the right candidate.
