Located in Melbourne, VIC, Avweld Australasia is an experienced provider of metal spray, weld hardfacing, wear plate, repair and maintenance solutions for a spectrum of heavy industries. Through our extensive experience, advanced facilities and technical capacities we are able to provide tailored solutions for wear minimisation and machine longevity. We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced and qualified Metal Machinist to join our team in Laverton North VIC.
The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:
- Proficient in operating large boring / lathe machines and with setting up small to large components
- Assembly, commissioning, and calibration of the machinery both onsite and in the workshop
- Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings
- Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment
- Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
- Setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for textile machines
- Forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal
- Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
- Knowledge in Heidenhain CNC programming will be an advantage
Skills & Abilities:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent
- Ideally have 3 years experience within relevant or similar field
- Ability to work in a team environment
Salary range is $70,000 - $85,000pa commensurate with experience
