12 weeks of annual leave, plus public holidays
Welcome to Highview College. With a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive school culture, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to nurture the social, emotional, and mental health needs of our students. And this is where you come in!
About you
Are you a compassionate listener, a dedicated advocate, or a caring mentor? Whether you're an experienced Counsellor, a passionate Social Worker, a seasoned Psychologist, or a newly qualified teacher with a counselling background, Highview College offers the perfect opportunity for you to utilise your clinical expertise in this newly created team dedicated to student well-being.
The opportunity
As the School Counsellor you will play a crucial role in promoting the overall well-being of our students and be the main point of call when a student needs help. You will be at the forefront of guiding academic aspirations, career planning, personal growth and anything that may concern a student.
To truly thrive in this role, you'll need to be a master at building connections and fostering trust. Your knack for creating safe spaces extends beyond traditional counselling sessions - whether it's strolling through the school grounds, facilitating one-on-one talks, or leading small group sessions, your adaptability is key.
Being seen isn't just a formality, it's integral. Attending school events, cheering on at sports, and participating in fundraisers - your presence in the school's day-to-day is vital. Your empathetic and dynamic approach not only empowers students but also cultivates an environment where they can flourish and make positive life choices.
Required qualifications:
Qualifications in Psychology, Counselling or Social Work or similar.
At least 1 year of experience working as a Psychologist, Counsellor, Clinical social worker or Youth Worker
High attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven ability to build relationships with children
Why us?
In exchange for your hard work, you'll have the opportunity to negotiate your hours and salary that will be based on your experience, so you'll be able to do what you love - for a competitive rate of pay - in a way that suits you.
This role will also form part of a newly created team dedicated to student well-being, and offers you an opportunity to create the future framework for our student wellbeing initiative.
If this sounds like the role for you we'd love to hear from you!
