Elecnor presents an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking to join our team as a Construction Superintendent on a 14/7 roster.
This role could be suitable for local candidates in Mildura or Wagga areas, as well as those interested in FIFO opportunities.
The Construction Superintendent is the senior project construction figure responsible for overall construction execution and coordination of works.
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for the execution of the construction plan, including all construction activities and changes to the plan as required, to meet schedule and cost goals of the project.
The Construction Superintendent will also oversee the planning, production, works allocation, subcontractor direction and engagement, safety, quality, client interface, construction operations, cost, and schedule.
The Role
• Actively participate in development of a construction HSSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job.
• Provide clear direction to the Project construction team on priority activities and work sequencing.
• Promote clear, open communication amongst the construction team.
• Develop Hazard Register for Project in consultation with the HSSE team and appropriate stakeholders.
• Provide constructability input during design phases.
• Develop a construction organisational plan commensurate with the requirements of the Project.
• Identify specialist construction resource requirements and work with resource teams to meet forecast project requirements.
• Contribute to the development of accurate construction resource histograms.
• Ensure all work activities are thoroughly planned and have appropriate controls in place to ensure works are performed safely and efficiently.
• Visit sites in advance of commencement of work and evaluate site conditions and extraordinary requirements.
• Contribute to the development of the Project Execution Plan, including specific activity-based planning.
• Ensure each direct report has a full understanding of the Project Execution Plan and other information pertinent to construction execution, and lead the team to deliver a successful project.
• Develop detailed plant and equipment, and tooling requirements to ensure required construction assets are identified and secured in advance of construction activities.
• Lead the development of plant and equipment schedule for the Project and asset register.
• Establish maintenance and repair facilities to provide appropriate support to construction effort.
• Establish temporary work sites and facilities to support construction, including tower sites and brake/winch sites.
• Ensure construction materials are sourced and transported to site/construction work fronts in a coordinated and cost-effective manner.
• Provide direction, coordination, and performance management of all on-site construction operations and support departments including field management, quality, safety, material management, procurement, construction engineering, human resources, business services, industrial relations, and facility turnover.
• Coordinate and interface with others as required to execute the construction plan and ensure that labour, equipment, and materials are available to support the construction effort.
• Ensure construction work is performed within the budget and schedule constraints of the project.
• Control change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.
• Monitor and control cost, schedule, progress, and productivity including analysing deviations and taking action to correct negative trends.
• Advise management of developments that could affect project profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and interdepartmental or inter-divisional relations.
• Maintain a chronological record of the project history by having the minutes of meetings and telephone conversations written. Confirm in writing all significant instructions given to the project team or received from Client.
• Promote an atmosphere of open and honest communication between SecureEnergy and Transgrid, with the goal of excellence in customer relationships.
• Ensure development of construction work packs appropriate to activities being performed.
• Identify opportunities to optimise the program and delivery of works.
• Contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions to improve safety, and reduce time and labour requirements.
Your Skills & Experience
• 10+ years construction experience, with 5+ years relevant industry management experience.
• Extensive experience in the delivery of major projects.
• Extensive experience in all aspects of on-site construction.
• Training and experience in managing on-site safety and personnel issues.
• High focus on ensuring that all aspects of the construction work is performed safely.
• Bachelor qualification or relevant industry experience ideally in engineering or construction
