Would living in the tropics be a new adventure for your family?
The new year is upon us and it may be time to think of something new or different. Would getting some Skin Cancer experience be something you wish to try? Would living in the tropics be a new adventure for your family? This is a great opportunity in Tropical Cairns!
The practice has an "Integrated Skin Cancer Care" approach where you will have access to a number of technologies to aid in Skin Cancer diagnosis, treatment, Imaging, histological assessment all in one place and we even cater for your appetite to be part of national and international clinical trials if that is your thing.
If you are already (or thinking of) doing the Master of Dermoscopy and Preventive Dermato-oncology, with the university of Gratz, we may be able to help you with access to Centres of excellence like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York or the MIA in Sydney.
It is a fully privately billed clinic with Bulk Billing only at your discretion. The practice is DPA.
What's on offer?
Fully fit-out rooms with state of the art and cutting edge technology which are usually only available to hospital doctors in tertiary centres
Hands on Training by A. Myself - Vice president of SCCA, B. Dr Phil Hayden - Censor SCCA, C. Dr Roland Lotsu - FSCCA, Med Uni Graz, Austria. What we do will complement what you may learn in certificate level courses all the way to Masters level courses or even with pursuing a fellowship with the SCCA. We have in house webinars and access to educational resources.
Onsite histology lab with access to Rapid Frozen Section and CCPDMA - this is usually not available to GPs and hence getting trained in this is usually difficult.
CCPDMA Sectioning is internationally recognised as the gold standard for treatment of aggressive BCCs and SCCs in high risk areas. Higher cure rate, lower recurrence rate, smaller scars as the margin clearance needed is only 1-2mm.
High Risk Melanoma Clinic - 2 patients per hour with a combination of 3D TBP and skin check - this is only for doctors with a high degree of training in Dermoscopy (at least an advanced Certificate). We do find on an average at least one melanoma per day.
Fully supported theatre sessions.
Opportunity to participate in both National and International Clinical Trials - depending on your interest and commitment.
If you are already a senior and experienced skin cancer practitioner and do not feel the need to access hands-on training - you could still come use our facilities to offer Rapid frozen section with CCPDMA or the "High Risk Melanoma Clinic" and we do offer paid Teaching opportunities.
