Food Safety and Quality Manager

Randstad has been given the opportunity to support the recruitment of our client who is an artisan bread manufacturer established in Melbourne with 20 years experience. They are dedicated to producing quality artisan breads for both wholesale and retail markets. Located in Braeside and Dandenong, this is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) Manager to join the team.
As a FSQ Manager, you are responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating every aspect of the company's Quality Assurance functions. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the company achieves the highest possible product quality, food safety, and GMP standards to comply with all external/customer certification standards and applicable legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Proactively assess, determine, negotiate, and agree on in-house quality procedures, standards, and specifications based on legislative, BRC, GMP, HACCP, and customer requirements.
Oversee the company's Food Safety Programs to ensure alignment with current legislative and customer requirements.
Collaborate with the Production Team to define, implement, and embed QA procedures, standards, and systems.
Specify raw material quality requirements for suppliers and oversee the company's Food Safety and GMP audit program.
Manage third-party audits, ensuring appropriate remediation activity is specified for each non-conformance identified.
Ensure timely resolution and communication of QA Hold product disposition details.
Provide strong leadership to the QC, QA, and Hygiene Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Support the training and development of team members to ensure compliance with internal and external food safety requirements.
Prepare detailed reports for management and customers, highlighting QA audit activity, results, remediations, and key projects.

About you:

Over 10 years of management experience in a demanding QA role within the food industry.
Extensive working knowledge of all systems and standards pertaining to food quality and safety.
Commitment to developing and implementing continuous improvement.
Strong people management skills and experience in managing QC, QA, and hygiene teams in a food production environment.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
Leadership and professional development/training skills and experience.
Excellent analytical capabilities.
