The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join the Energy Services Asset Development Engineering team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as an Engineering Team Leader. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this role, you will support and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers by providing ongoing engineering expertise on equipment reliability, availability and procurement. Working on new and existing equipment, you’ll focus on providing innovative and automated solutions, where you will have a direct impact in reducing costs and energy consumption. As the Engineering Team Leader you will uphold a supportive environment whilst contributing to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment.

What Will You Do?
You’ll motivate and develop a diverse team of engineers whilst ensuring target project deliverables are achieved safely within the agreed time, budget, and levels of quality. You will:
- manage and provide expertise on engineering technical design, project engineering, and project management
- support and manage the personal and professional development of a diverse engineering team
- coordinate the engineering requirements to meet the medium to long-term department equipment and engineering plans.
- oversee the capital projects within the Energy Services department
- provide engineering support to maintenance, operations, and other engineering disciplines to deliver solutions that maintain and sustain a safe and reliable plant
- supervise the design development process and ensure design solutions comply with codes, standards and statutory requirements
- participate in the maintenance budget preparation and monitoring for all engineering activities
More About You
Along with your technical and leadership skills, you’ll have experience in applying your analytical skills to address process performance. You will also bring:
- a tertiary degree qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or similar
- a commitment to the safety and well-being of yourself and others
- experience working in a similar heavy industry (e.g. Power Generation)
- developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to build constructive and effective relationships
- the ability to prioritise work, troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively and efficiently with a hands-on approach
- a continuous improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to improve business outcomes
