Due to recent internal movement and promotions, Northern Star Resources’ Northern Goldfields Operations are searching for Senior Mining Engineers who is eager to challenge their leadership skills in a high performing and well resourced team. This role is offered FIFO ex Perth on a rotation of 8 days on 6 days off.
The Senior Mining Engineer reports to the Alternate Underground Manager, and the primary role is to manage and coordinate mining activities to ensure the production physicals, as directed in the three-month forecast, are achieved, and also to provide guidance and mentoring to Engineers in order to achieve the prescribed objectives.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Lead and mentor team of Drill and Blast, Mine Planning, Ventilation & Infrastructure Engineers.
In absence of the Alternate Underground Manager, will be required to fill the role of Alternate Underground Manager.
Each week review and communicate any changes (proposed or accepted) to the three month forecast.
Responsibility for the development of functional work plans for the Mining Department ensuring production and strategic requirements are met.
Responsibility for the achievement of the plans and goals through ongoing monitoring of progress.
Review and approve production drilling and charging plans.
Conceptualise, initiate, present and implement specific improvement projects including any specific infrastructure projects required for productivity and profitability gains by the mine.
Coordinate and manage the stope reconciliation process generating and keeping the required internal reporting records such as end of month & end of stope reconciliations.
Coordinate and manage the end of month summaries and reports and any other measures that may be required to enable good management of the mine and the mining contract (e.g. KPI rising summary report, Mining EOM report)
Ensure the completion of mine development and stoping designs in a timely manner to comply with the weekly targets as determined by the three month forecast.
Required skills and experience:
Degree majoring in Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
Minimum of 5 years Underground hard rock mining experience, including production, mine planning, and projects/infrastructure.
First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency or ability to acquire it (Underground practical experience completed).
Experience using Deswik CAD and IS.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Strong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team of Engineers.
Ability to hold themselves and other accountable to their roles and responsibilities.
Current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence.
Strong knowledge of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
