Northern Star Resources Operations has an upcoming requirement for a Senior Planning Engineer – Long-Term Planning. This is a site based position offered on family friendly 8:6 rotation working FIFO ex Perth.
The Senior Planning Engineer – Long-Term Planning reports to the Planning Superintendent, and the primary role is to ensure that short, medium and long term mine plans are created and implemented to optimise the life of asset and enable the business to meet its long and short term objectives in terms of safety, production and cost within the Mining Department.
As part of a well-resourced long term planning team your main responsibilities will include:
Utilise Deswik software to produce practical development and production designs on new and updated geological resource models for mine areas within the broader underground mining complex.
Logically sequence and schedule mine areas for enhancement of the overall mine production and economic profiles.
Produce functional infrastructure designs allowing for successful execution of mining activities and schedules.
Undertake financial evaluation throughout the design process to a standard adequate for the investment review process and reserve reporting.
Be a key contributor to the evolution of the site mining strategy with a focus on the annual budget and life of asset time spaces.
Assist and contribute in the unit cost review and estimation processes.
Contribute to the compilation and ongoing review of mine design and planning guidelines.
Provide guidance and assistance to other planning (short and medium term), production and project engineers.
Required skills and experience:
Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
Underground production and planning experience in mechanised hard-rock underground mining, preferably with exposure to highly productive narrow vein mining.
Competent in the use of mine planning and scheduling software applications, preferably Deswik
Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
