Two full-time GP positions available. This practice also offers the opportunity to follow your interest and work in their dedicated skin clinic.
The Position
City Medical Practice is seeking to recruit two full-time General Practitioners. An interest in skin medicine and aesthetics is desirable - although not essential - as the practice also operates a collocated skin clinic.
The full range of GP services is on offer, along with a travel clinic, dietitian and simple procedures.
You will be required to participate in the Saturday and after-hours roster as well as visit patients in the local aged care facilities. The consulting hours are Monday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, Fridays from 8.00 am - 5.00 pm and Saturdays (by appointment only) from 11.00 am - 4.00 pm. The practice utilises the after-hours triage service of healthdirect to minimise out-of-hours calls.
City Medical Practice is a mixed billing practice.
The Organisation
The City of Burnie has a population of approximately 20,000 and is situated on sunny Emu Bay, on the north-west coast of Tasmania, 40 minutes from Devonport and a little over 90 minutes from Launceston. Apart from the beach and wonderful produce from the surrounding farmlands, Burnie is the gateway to the famous Cradle Mountain and West Coast Wilderness. It offers public and private hospitals and schools, and is home to the Cradle Coast campus of the University of Tasmania, plus the Tasmanian Polytechnic and Tasmanian Academy.
Established in 1990 and located in the Burnie CBD, City Medical Practice is privately owned and operated. The practice is committed to being on the forefront of medical technology whilst maintaining the caring aspect of medical practice.
Continuous education is very important at City Medical Practice, which takes pride in being a teaching practice. The practice hosts medical and nursing students, and all clinicians and staff continuously train and upskill.
There are thirteen consulting rooms, a treatment room, a procedure room and a sterilising room. Nine GPs currently work in the practice, assisted by six full-time equivalent nurses. A number of allied health professionals provide a visiting service to the practice, including regular diabetic and care plan clinics, and there is on-site pathology and radiology. The practice is fully computerised using Best Practice.
