Affordable and safe country town living
Time to explore outback Queensland

About Us
Great Artesian Veterinary Surgery (GAVS) has its main clinic in Hughenden but we also cover an area larger than Tasmania!
Our work is truly mixed and divided between cattle work on stations, equine medicine and reproduction and small animal medicine and surgery at the clinic in Hughenden and on our Outreach Clinics.
Being in a country area, we get the opportunity to tackle more complex surgical and medical cases but are also close enough to refer when necessary. Even though we are remote, we are committed to providing the highest level of care for our patients and clients.
At GAVS, we work as a team, and are passionate about learning and growing, both as individuals and for the business. Oh, and did we mention, we have a dedicated team member to help with your notes, paperwork and billing (as we understand that is not the fun part of being a vet)?!
About Hughenden
Hughenden is a small, progressive town of around 1100 people. No, Bunnings may not be on your doorstep anymore, but you will know your neighbours (and pretty much everyone else in town), your kids can walk or ride their bikes to school in complete safety, you can afford to rent or buy a house here without selling your left kidney and we even have a recreational lake so you can bring your boat! On top of all this, you will be on the doorstep of our magnificent Queensland outback and all it has to explore.
What’s on offer
• Flexible roster. We encourage ‘down time’ and give you the opportunity to experience the best of North and Western Queensland. 8-day fortnight, one weekend in three on-call.
• No regular Saturdays or after 4pm consults. We are only open for emergencies after this time.
• Remuneration commensurate with enthusiasm and experience.
• Quarterly staff account credit.
• Continuing education allowance and additional leave.
• Intensive mentoring available
• Relocation support and accommodation can be provided as part of the package.
• Lunch hour and regular breaks every day (well MOST days)!
Salary range - $65,000 to $75,000 + super
