On behalf of our client, we’re looking for an experienced Pastry Cook/Chef
The role will be responsible for managing, preparing and the baking of our cakes, tarts, bread loaves and rolls and all our high tea and dessert components in a dining establishment.
The daily duties and responsibilities include:
• Produce food products for the restaurant, inclusive of preparation, baking and savoury work, and the production and execution of desserts and Hi-tea items
• Prepare all pastry items desserts, breads and baked products to the standard that is required by the head chef /Pastry Chef and senior management
• Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing of ingredients
• Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
• Preparing pastry fillings
• Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
• Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
• Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
• Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
• Ordering ingredients, stock control and organising a pastry kitchen or station.
• Check the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
Education – Associated Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or related qualification in patisserie desirable. Industry experience may substitute where the candidate has no less than 3 years of full-time experience.
Experience & Skills
• 3+ years of Industry experience as a pastry cook/chef
• Excellent communication skills and organisation skills
• Willing to work in a team environment as well as being able to work unsupervised.
• Has passion for baking with exceptional presentation.
• Maintain quality control and operational efficiencies.
Salary: Salary being offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience, with a range from $70,000 - $90,000.
