Job description
Sandy Creek Pork is a newly established pig breeding and production operation in northern New South Wales and requires qualified and experienced Pig Farmers to help manage its pig breeding and production units. These operations work 24/7 and suitable applicants need to be prepared to work rostered shift work.
Duties include:
• ensuring pigs are fed optimal diets appropriate for age, breeding cycle and level of production
• monitoring and maintaining the health condition of the animals
• ensuring the breeding cycle is maintained to maximise production
• selecting pigs for breeding based on the best economic value to ensure that pigs were bred to maximise genetic potential
• grading pigs and selection for sale
• maintaining hygiene and optimum temperature within the breeding and production sheds and operating environment
• directing and overseeing maintenance appends, sheds and operating temperature control equipment
• maintaining the equipment and water supply systems
• ensuring pig health and safety standards are met
• supervising and training staff
Annual salary will be no less than $70,000. Applicants need to have a AQF Degree level qualification together with at least 2 year’s work experience relevant to the position. Applicants should forward resume to [email protected]
