Implementation Principal Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Working with the Project Manager as the technical Lead during project implementations the Implementation Manager will demonstrate advanced leadership, problem solving and customer service and relationship management skills. 


Provide advanced product knowledge, installation and infrastructure skills in the implementations of Amadeus Airport IT self service products.
The Implementation Manager will be responsible for large project implementations and advising our customers of product usability. 


The Implementation Manager must be knowledgeable with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment. 
The role will be required to take accountability of the end-to-end delivery of Customer Facing projects, software and hardware, testing and go-live. 


This is a customer facing role that interacts within all levels of the client's organisation from C Level to technical SMEs. The Implementation Manager will build very strong relationships in the customer organisation to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and nurtures future business opportunties. 

Main Responsibilities:

- Leadership Responsibilities

Technical manager for large project implementations, with overall responsibility for all installation and configuration activities:

  • Creation of implementation plan, working with project manager. 

  • Provide weekly status report to project manager on progress of implementation.

  • Owner of any identified technical issue until resolution.

  • Provide timely advice, recommendations and status to project manager.

  • Attend and report status at both internal and external project management meetings. 

  • Attend and report status at both internal and external steering committees. 

  • Reporting project status back to head of implementation.

  • Work directly with our customers to advise on upgrades, installations and architectural related topics as they relate to our products.

  • Work with head of implementaiton to allocate and schedule implementation engineers to projects.

  • Lead and manage implementation engineers and commisioning engineers while they perform their duties.

  • Participate in pre-sales presentations to our customers to demonstrate our product capabilities.

- Technical responsibilities

  • Facilitate customer testing phases such as Airline Acceptance Testing, UAT, SAT, OAT etc. 

  • Collect and document specific Customer data/ functional/ technical implementation requirements

  • Understanding of airport IT systems, peripherals and software development lifecycles or other relevant experiences.

  • Conduct analysis and contributes to joint product design efforts.

  • Support the other teams involved in the SDLC: Business Analyst, QAs, etc.

  • Expert Knowledge of Common Use products or other relevant experiences.

  • Expert knowledge of Amadeus Biometrics, working with product managers and Enginering SME's to implement Biometric solutions.

  • Expert knowledge of Amadeus Self Service products, working with product managers and Enginering SME's to implement solutions.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Experience working on Airports and/or Airlines Projects is mandatory

  • Experience in Airport Automation, Airport IT, Baggage Handling is is mandatory.

  • Experience with Self-service equipment development is is mandatory.

  • Some practical experience with Airport devices such as printers and scanners.

  • Strong understanding of airport self service, biometrics and common use solutions and airline DCS.

  • Works effectively with people from different backgrounds / cultures to accomplish business objectives, valuing and gaining benefit from the diversity of ideas / perspectives in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Initiates and leads new approaches without needing to be told to do so and proactively addresses risks. 

  • Discusses needed change with a view to the future, creates commitment and enthusiasm towards the goal and actively anticipates / manages resistance.  

  • Good communication skills

  • Must have the ability to obtain a relevant passport and agree to travel domestically and internationally as required to support the job requirements.
