Saunders International are currently looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Pressure Welder to join their team in Darwin.
The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:
- Implementation and undertaking of Saunders International safety processes and practices whilst undertaking all works.
- Plan sequence of work to be done in relation to drawings, job and timeframes
- Determine the requirements and steps needed to do the job by interpreting drawings
- Draw accurate guidelines on the metal showing where to cut, drill, bend and carry out other types of work, using measuring and marking off tools and equipment such as rulers, punches and dividers.
- Layout plate, sheet steel or other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines
- Shape the metal using metal working machines
- Cut metal plate and brackets using an oxy-fuel torch and chip and grind parts to shape for fitting together
- Fit, tack and weld parts together using electric arc welding equipment
- Cut marked metal sections using hand tools or plate cutting torches or by set up and operating metal working machines
- Assemble parts and structures by positioning and lining up parts and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting and, if large, with the aid of cranes and other equipment
- Clean and prepare metal surfaces for welding by flame cutting, heat cutting, gouging, bevelling, grinding or filing
- Pre-heat thick materials to required temperatures as per WPS and PQR
- Adjust and control AGW and EGW machine variables to best suit the welding conditions and approved procedures
- The safe and timely completion of fabrication, construction and welding
- Ensuring that fabrication and welding is completed to the required quality standard, safely.
Skills and Abilities:
- Certificate III in Engineering-Fabrication Trade or equivalent
- Ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Working at Heights qualified
- Confined Space qualified
- White Card or equivalent
- Driver’s license
- EWP ticket
- Previous AGW and EGW machine operational experience including troubleshooting, adjusting machine variables to suit changing tank conditions and welding processes.
- Experience with in process visual inspection of weld runs to ensure conformity with API 650.
Salary range is $95,000-$110,000pa commensurate with experience
