We are advertising on behalf of our Client.
The primary functions of the role will be, but not limited to, completing regular maintenance on explosives fixed plant and mobile explosives processing vehicles within the Kalgoorlie, WA region. The role will include a mine specific utility vehicle, mobile phone and tools of trade.
Duties:
• Maintain surface MPU and UG pumping units in-line with maintenance schedules.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of MPUs, forklifts, trucks, trailers or similar assets.
• Conduct fixed plant maintenance checks in-line with maintenance schedule.
• Complete and update paperwork involved with maintenance checks.
• Complete general maintenance and repairs on explosives equipment (Mechanical and auto-electrical work)
• Maintain fleet vehicle in line with servicing requirements.
• General fabrication work, welding and grinding.
• Complete and adhere to Hot Working Permits as and where necessary.
• Operate a forklift and heavy ridged vehicles (example Normet)
• Attend callouts or breakdown incidents (from time to time)
• Conduct stock takes and manage spare parts inventory.
• Report any safety concerns or aspects to Plant Manager.
• On occasions drive light or heavy vehicles
• maintain a clean and tidy work area (Trucks, tanks, yard, compressors, other equipment etc.)
• Completing daily reports, logbooks including maintenance sheets (example pre-starts, delivery documents, maintenance schedule)
• Quality assurance checks and reporting (TAKE5 etc)
• Following safety and emergency procedures including safe management of dangerous goods spills, fire or major vehicle accident
• Undertake ongoing training to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to mining and explosives industries.
• Flexibility in approach to hours of work to meet Business deadlines. Availability to work on Weekends to complete breakdown repairs only.
• Establish and maintain a good working relationship with team members and customers.
• Comply will all relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory Dangerous Goods, Explosive, transport, and mine site legislation.
• Attending and contributing at toolbox meetings
• Adhering to customer OHS procedures.
• Adhering to and effectively contributing to the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Adhere to all company procedures, health, safety, environment, and business ethics policies and remain up to date.
• Other duties as directed.
Qualifications and Experience
• A recognised Australian Trade Certificate (Mechanic and / or Auto-electrician)
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• 12 months experience in a similar role in a mining environment
• Police clearance (less than 6 months old)
• Australian HR Drivers License (MC desirable or willingness to obtain)
• Relevant site licenses (desirable)
• Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) operator’s qualification or experience (desirable)
• WA Dangerous Goods Security Card
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening
• Ability to pass mine site medical assessment for fitness
