JOB PURPOSE:
The Cook at Sushi Hub Casuarina will prepare high-quality sushi dishes according to our established recipes and standards. This role requires a passion for Japanese cuisine, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Cook will play a key role in maintaining the reputation of Sushi Hub Casuarina for offering fresh and delicious Japanese cuisine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation: Prepare a variety of sushi and other Japanese dishes while adhering to standardised recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all dishes are prepared quickly, efficiently, and without compromising quality.
Kitchen Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by following sanitation standards and health codes. Regularly clean kitchen equipment and tools and ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Inventory and Supplies: Assist in managing kitchen inventory by reporting low stock levels, receiving deliveries, and organising storage areas. Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff and the Retail Supervisor to ensure seamless kitchen operations and timely preparation of orders. Participate in team meetings and contribute to menu development sessions.
Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that all food items are prepared to meet our customers' expectations and uphold Sushi Hub Casuarina's reputation for quality. Respond to and accommodate special dietary requests whenever possible.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest trends and techniques in sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine. Seek feedback from peers and management to improve culinary skills and menu offerings continually.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Diploma in Commercial Cookery.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cook, preferably focusing on Japanese cuisine.
Proficiency in various cooking techniques and knife skills.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple orders simultaneously.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A passion for cooking and a commitment to producing quality food.
