Carpentry Apprentice (2nd, 3rd or 4th Year)

4-year full time position, Monday to Friday (38hrs per week)

Skillinvest has an opportunity for a committed and motivated candidate to undertake a full time Carpentry Apprenticeship with local company based in Horsham. Our apprentice will receive ongoing mentoring whilst learning on-the-job and undertaking a 'Certificate III in Carpentry'. Duties

Construct formwork into which concrete is poured
Set out an outline of the building on the ground of the site, using string and pegs
Build wall frameworks (timber or metal) and roofs
Read plans and specifications to determine the dimensions, materials required and installation
Install metal and timber windows, sashes and doors
Cut materials with hand and power tools, and assemble, nail, cut or shape parts
Install door handles, locks, hardware, flooring underlay, insulating material and other fixtures
Maintain and sharpen tools

Requirements

Good at working with their hands and enjoy practical work
Able to cope with the physical demands of the job
Good at mathematics
Good sense of balance and ability to work at heights
Willingness to commit to work and study
Pre apprenticeship or relevant industry experience (highly regarded)
Current driver's licence and reliable transport (desirable)

To be eligible to receive an Apprenticeship or Traineeship and the government funding, candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
