The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Hot Strip Mill team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Shift Electrician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You will join a cross functional team that ensures equipment operates and is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability.  In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues is a priority.

This opportunity is open to both experienced Electricians, and 4th year completing apprentices who have experience within a continuous manufacturing environment. 

What will you do?

With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:

  • follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
  • fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drives and instrumentation systems
  • perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
  • perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

More about you

You are driven by self-development, committed to our success, and have technical experience within an industrial, manufacturing environment.  

You will have: 

  • have a strong commitment to safety
  • electrical trade qualifications
  • current NSW Electrical License
  • experience working with automated equipment, drives, instrumentation, gauges & PLC’s
  • experience in fault finding and problem solving
  • initiative in carrying out equipment repairs
