Job Title: Production & Logistics Planner

Role Reports To: Director – EDI/Logistics
Job Summary:
Coordinates with the Global Routing Team regarding the scheduling of work, distribution controls, and the direction of manufacturing capacity utilization to ensure optimal levels of customer service. Supports the technical aspects of the available workload distribution tools via collaboration and analysis with Operations.
Confirms the accuracy of the electronic data interchange relationship between customers (publisher, wholesaler, and retailers) and ICG for drop ship, offset printing, global connect partners, and distribution for ICG’s AU Operations. Performs critical functions relative to the proper assignment of carriers for outbound, inbound, and international transportation based on customer, publisher, and/or ICG routing guides. Works directly with Operations to provide support and enhancement of existing workflows/ SOPs.
Essential Duties:
- Creates, manages, and maintains site specific configuration(s), through systems analysis and programming, in coordination with the Production and Logistics Planning team.
- Provides secondary support for non-AU sites, Global Connect Partners, Offset Printers, etc. regarding creation and /or configuration/programming of jobs with a specified rules base on site’s needs.
- Provides daily oversight of scheduled jobs in the AU site to ensure consistent and accurate workflow while balancing TAT regarding customer’s expectations.
- Performs a variety of analytical logistics support tasks across sub-systems and equipment specific to the Manufacturing and Distribution areas.
- Supports and coordinates new product releases for book types, trim sizes, product launches, new carrier’s etc. which may directly impact the router, downstream systems, and/or available equipment.
- Communicates customer orders and statuses to the Production Management Team to provide accurate information to ensure daily and weekly goals are achieved.
- Reviews volume and labor goals weekly with the Production Management Team and the Production Planning Team to execute and exceed established goals.
- Reports interface errors and mapping errors for all EDI format-based ordering tools and EDIFACT profiles including purchase orders, functional acknowledgments, purchase order acknowledgments, advanced shipping notices, and invoices.
- Analyzes carriers’ invoices to maintain LSI freight cost including working with the Customer, CSR, Vendors, or Carriers on billing errors, discounts, and freight terms.
- Generates and maintains all routing instructions, carrier information, and tracing data upon review of transportation analyses of carrier costs for truckload carrier, less than truckload carrier, and small parcel carriers.
- Manages carrier performance daily to ensure pick up, delivery, claims and tracing are completed as scheduled and current for the benefit of customer, Operations, and carrier compliance.
- Serves as point of contact with both internal and external clients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Advanced Production Scheduling systems.
- Knowledge of Oracle Ordering, Inventory, and Distribution applications.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing and Production systems, preferably relating to Digital Printing/Publishing.
- Knowledge of relational database structures.
- Knowledge of SQL query writing.
- Strong skills related to working with a Global Team: Organization, Analytics, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and strong technical comprehension and communication.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to follow a data map and technical process to analyze and/or specify an integrated solution between systems.

Basic/Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- College Level Education or equivalent year for year experience in Business Administration, Production Management, or related field.
- 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Planning/Scheduling.
- 5 years’ experience in a Logistical Management /Distribution environment.
- 3-5 years of SQL experience required.
- 3-5 years Project Management experience.
- 3 years of Technical Writing.
