Suitable candidates will also have:

  • Experience in group training, coaching and case consultation, specifically providing professional learning activities for a range of audiences
  • An understanding of the National Quality Standard (NQS) for early childhood education and care
  • An understanding of and ability to work in alignment with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF)

What you’ll be doing

You will have excellent access to kindergarten educators in kindergarten communities to build their capacity to support young children’s learning in the key areas of communication (language development) wellbeing (social and emotional) and access and inclusion. Using evidence-based practices, what you do will benefit all children and families you work with.

You will work in collaboration with educators to build their capability to create an environment for kindergarten aged children that promote:

  • improved speech, language, social interaction and early literacy outcomes
  • self-regulation and positive and pro-social behaviours, and
  • social and emotional wellbeing.

Allied health professionals will be required to:

  • work collaboratively with kindergartens and Department of Education and Training area staff area to plan for how they will utilise their allied health entitlement
  • build the capability of educators and families to support children through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and other discipline specific services
  • provide allied health support to kindergartens and communities
  • travel to kindergartens within the Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges areas

A typical day will involve providing 2- 3 direct outreach services to kindergartens that builds the capability of educators and families. Sessions will include coaching, modelling, mentoring, group training, and consultation to deliver a comprehensive capacity building service to kindergartens to improve School Readiness outcomes for children.

Who you’ll be working with
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will be working collaboratively with a supportive and like-minded team. You will liaise directly with Kindergartens, PSFO Officers, the EACH SRF Allied Health Team, the Child Development, Team Leader and other staff.

You will be supported by National Clinical Leads, as well as a host of other Allied Health Professionals in the region, all working towards common goals.
