Retinue

Retinue company logo

Why we are different

Retinue Accounting was founded on the belief that small business accounting support should be customer service focused, proactive and forward-looking, and at the same time be upfront about fees and charges. Our fixed fee subscription model ensures our clients have peace of mind that we’ll give them the right advice, at the right time, at the right price with no hidden additional costs.

We are so much more than another accounting business – we are a team driven by our values and behaviours. Adaptability, commitment, and humility fuel our client-centred approach. We honour our promises, promote transparency, and move swiftly with purpose. We embrace new challenges, and proactively raise issues with a solutions mindset, knowing it takes a team effort to build a successful business.

The role

As a Senior Payroll Officer at Retinue, you will be joining a growing team responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our diverse client base. Leveraging your extensive experience in payroll processing, you will ensure that our clients' payroll operations are efficient, accurate, and compliant with tax legislation.

You will not be responsible for calculating employee hours, rates of pay or entitlements, which we consider to be employment relations work and outside the scope of our payroll processing service. You will however be responsible for helping our clients make payroll processing less of a burden and making sense of complex ATO/tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that payroll processing is completed on time, is accurate, and with a focus on providing a hassle-free client experience.
  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation and reporting requirements of different states and territories.
  • Complete superannuation reconciliations and lodgements
  • Accurately report, manage and lodge payroll information through the Single Touch Payroll system.
  • Resolve escalated payroll issues and queries, collaborating with clients, internal stakeholders, and external authorities when necessary.
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation that may impact payroll processing.
  • Provide supervision to junior team members, including offshore team members, to help foster their professional growth and development.
  • Complete year-end payroll activities and reconciliations.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role, managing payroll for multiple clients ideally in a senior capacity.
  • Xero payroll software experience is essential; experience of using other payroll systems will be considered favourably.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax legislation to the extent it relates to payroll processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple client priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Benefits

  • Flexible working options available, ability to work from home following probation.
  • Great location close to public transport, with beautiful, serviced offices and first-class amenities
  • Financial support with any formal studies and institute membership fees
  • Training and professional development relevant to your role, provided by our dedicated in-house training and development team.
  • Exceptional professional growth opportunities in a fast-growing business, including (but not limited to) management opportunities or lateral opportunities.
  • Become a part of our growth story, work in a high performance and dynamic organisation that recognises success with career progression and further opportunities.

Salary

$80,000-$95,000 + super (depending on experience)

Our Commitment

At Retinue Accounting, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial to our success. We recognise that diversity goes beyond race and ethnicity, and includes differences in gender, orientation, age, religion, ability, and more. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and can fully contribute their talents and skills. We are dedicated to building a workplace that values and respects individuals from all backgrounds and experiences. We welcome and encourage all qualified applicants to apply, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, or other differences.
