Hospital Manager | Animal Referral Hospital Canberra
There is an opportunity for an experienced and innovative hospital manager to join ARH Canberra on a full-time basis. Established in 2018, ARH Canberra has grown to a vibrant hospital of over 130 staff, while still retaining a fun, close-knit and family atmosphere. Your new role:
Reporting to the business manager, the hospital manager will be a highly valued member of the ARH Canberra management team who will oversee and execute the efficient and effective running of the hospital, ensuring that the highest standard of patient care and customer services are achieved. The role also provides leadership and direction in areas such as: team development, workflow management, supplier management, inventory management, operational performance, patient/customer satisfaction and ad hoc tasks as required.
The hospital manager is responsible for overseeing and developing the nursing team through the supervision and mentorship of the nursing manager and will work closely with the business manager and customer relationship manager.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Day-to-day management of the hospital, optimising daily operating procedures to drive the highest standards of patient care and customer service
- Providing leadership, management and support to a busy, collaborative, high-performing team
- End-to-end management of inventory, procurement and purchasing including but not limited to monitoring stock usage and inventory levels, managing quality of supplies, supplier relationship management, overseeing agreements, and supplier audits
- Maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Working alongside the business manager and directors to identify growth opportunities and implement plans to achieve the required level of growth
- Working alongside the business manager to understand levers of profit and loss within the hospital and provide recommendations to improve overall profitability
- Complying and participating with WH&S legislation and operating in accordance with established health, safety and wellbeing practices and procedures
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, organisational and communication skills and ability to work towards deadlines
- Veterinary Nurse / Vet Technician / Veterinarian qualifications preferred
- Being able to lead, and to lead by example
- Being able to handle a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a professional demeanour
